Random Lore from 2013

Journal,

The chaos is seeping. Seeping in to my life. I know the leak is, and I let it in. Phippa, Salamander, Killian, Ahlschwede, Gris, and Dameon. The Agents of Chaos in my life, their chaos is seeping into my life, into my thoughts and, most recently, into my actions. What is happening to me?

Journal,

It seems the light of Ethnessa is shining on my lands. The young one named Cicero has joined The Order. He follows and defends the Goddess Ethnessa now.  If you know what you are looking for, you can see a change in him; in his stance, his strength and his drive. He has found something worth fighting for and people he wants to fight and grow with.

Journal,

I am here in the frozen lands of Thunder Guard. Winter has finally befallen us. It is cold and the earth is frozen. The snow piles are high.  Today was vastly colder than even I can handle. Kodite was frozen, even in all his tunics, furs and leathers. I fear soon he may leave me for the underground homeland of his race. I will understand when he does, but I will miss him greatly. I’ve been remembering the days before I knew he was a monster. Life seemed easier then; less chaotic, more peaceful. In a way I miss those days, but I wouldn’t go back because he is happier. We met the kobold named Silo this past year. They became fast friends, together they area tad insane. Slowly Kodite’s skin tone is changing back to its “natural,” orangish yellow, almost jaunist looking to humans, state. Out of all of this I am starting to understand monster-life, and a little bit about their strange gods.

Journal,

What am I going to do now? It seems I have gained more children to watch over. I am not sure why, but Thunder Guard seems to be the place parentless young ones come to live. You know my brother Kodite. But there are more, Xyston Praenutium was the first. He was 13 when he arrived, alone, in tattered clothing, worn chainmail and looking for a place to be. He is just now 17.  He has grown and become a valued member of the community. He is a strong fighter who has grown his skill and become a formidable warrior. The next is the one called Cicero, the light of Ethnessa lead him to us, and then to her. At least that is the way I feel about the child. What ever brought him here, he is one of mine now.  Another one is the woodland elf called Treebore. He appears as a teenager. I am not aware of how old he might be. He slipped in during the night and has never left. We know little of him. We know not why he came or why he stays, but he is one of mine now. Spatter M. Clockwork, Mech Goblyn, is the other monster member of Thunder Guard.  He is young, and most goblyns do not know their parents. I have more or less taken him as one of mine, more loosely than the others, as monsters tend to attack their “parents” or “parental figures.”  He is slowly improving as a warrior. He will get there.  Then there is the one I call “Thorgear.” He came from we know not where. We are not even sure his name is actually Thorgear, that is just what I call him because he came to us nameless, and does not speak. From how he dresses and what he came to us with, we know he is Norse. He is one of mine, I will learn his real name one day and find out what his story is.  It will just take some time, and I am willing to wait for him to trust me enough. The last addition is another woodland elf; he also came to us nameless. I call him “Llanawar”, maybe he will tell me his name soon. He also appears as a teenager. He is on the short side for an elf, but he is still taller than I am.  Thunder Guard, my home, the land of parentless children.

Journal,

It is Thorsdaeg today and I am feeling that I should be ready for something odd to happen. Something strange always happens on Thorsdaeg. I have not had a Thorsdaeg in the past three fortnights that has not had something strange happen on it. Last Thorsdaeg, I was surprised with a visit from a dear friend that I had not seen for a long period. Thorsdaeg, something odd always happens on Thorsdaeg.

Land of Abandoned Children?

Journal,

I have wandered far to end up here in Thunder Guard. This village is small, yet they are many. So many children yet few adults, and even few women still. Is this the place lost children go? Were they all abandoned here, as Kodite was abandoned? How they ended up here, just as how I ended up here matters not. All that matters now is that I am here and I shall take care of them as my own. I have my brother, Kodite, not even human by nature but my brother none the less. Then there is Xyston, the young French noble seeking a life away from the French court, or so he says. Next is Cicero, the boy is a bit insane, his past is rife with things I do not understand and he will not talk about. Lastly Spatter M. Clockwork, another monsters among men, he calls himself a mech goblin and speaks in the tongue of monsters, and when I can understand him I learn nothing of him.  These are the parentless children of Thunder Guard, all whom I have taken into my care. There are also Harmony a young lady assumedly of Japanese decent, who calls herself a niko, whatever that means; she appears and acts mostly human and Mitz her brother, he calls himself a deity, we are not sure exactly what he is god over. Harmony and Mitz are the only two older children who have a parent in Thunder Guard. Their mother is Hematite. Then there is Bishop. He is the War Baby of Thunder Guard. His father is Tyrimas Illano, Master WeaponSmith and Quartermaster of Thunder Guard.  What is this place I now call home, is it truly the land of abandoned children?

Kodite is a what…

Journal,

Kodite is nearly 17 now; last year around the time of the Autumn Equinox we met a goblyn. Her name is Salamander. I had met Salamander before this but Kodite had not been with me then.  Salamander presented Kodite with what she called a “shinny”. His eyes lit up and I could see something within him clicked. I did not understand it at all, and I doubt I ever will. The dwarf called Ironside, whom we had met before in our homeland, saw the exchange. He came to us where we had gathered with the Northern Alliance at OcktoberFest later that evening. Kodite was wearing the trinket he had been given smiling happily. Ironside sat down beside me, running his hands over his beard; the hints of ginger in his beard catching the fire light, he turned looked at me and softly spoke “He’ll cherish that.” He indicated the trinket, “Kobalds, like other monsters, have an affinity for things that gleam.” I looked at him and blinked. He did not just tell me my baby brother, the most important thing in the world to me was a monster; it was not possible. I blinked again, and he smiled sadly. I remembered back to the day I met Ironside for the first time. The day I stopped him from killing my little brother, he knew then. My friend, a man I deeply trust and care for had just told me my brother was a monster. A monster, my brother was a monster.  I asked him, “When you fixed our roof, you knew then, that was why you were trying to kill him then wasn’t it?” He nodded. He could see I needed space and time to process, so went about speaking with Chiron the Bearshirt about acquiring a new pipe, giving me the space I needed. Ironside called Kodite a kobold, which I later found out is a lizard looking being. How had I not seen this? Who am I trying to lie to, I saw the signs throughout my life, and I just choose to ignore them. This explains the orange skin, the scale like patches of skin, and the strange language he had when he came to us. I was 23 when I found out my brother was a monster.  I descried that night, this changed nothing, he is still my brother, I raised him. I shall love him none the less no matter if he is monster born or human born.
